In order to get the certificate for organic food production the soil shouldn't be treated with chemicals at least three years but it should be prepared with manure or biological and liquid fertilisers. Those standards are accepted in the USA, WU and Japan but (on the other side) in Montenegro the research of this matter is just in its primary stage.
For a more intensive plant production you need good, fertile soil.
Another important thing besides fertility is helthy soil (not contaminated) without chemicals and additives. Organic food production is higly estimated / fully appreciated / in the world therefore because of absence of industry and use of scarse chemical products in the food production, farmer of our region and the soil have a great chance to obtain a very high position on the world market.
As soon as we accept and start working according to certain standards we will able to appear equally on the market, including all the advantages of the region of Durmitor. Therefore the main goal of the „Eco zone of Durmitor“ project is to obtain the international certificate for the soil of this region which has essential qualities to satisfy (in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture).
Ecological production is the one which is totally organised according to legal rights and regulations and (as such) also approved by authorised legal subjects and laboratories.
The value of this legal legislation is enormous because the term of ecological product is finally introduced into Montenegrin agriculture and by its tehnological and productive concepts it is considerably different from widely accepted, traditional agricultural production.
