The organic agriculture, as a part
of sustainable development, has chosen as its aim a production
of enough quantities of a health food, with a good-host use
of natural resources and preservation of the environment. It
is based on a balance and harmony among all the participants
in a food production – the humans, the animals, the plants and
the land.
Contrary to this, a conventional agriculture, due to its use
of hormones, antibiotics, additives, genetically modified organisms
and other means, seriously endangers health safety of the products
and food items. In addition, due to a wide and excessive use
of chemical-synthetic means (pesticides, mineral fertilizers),
which pollute the environment, the living world is seriously
endangered (accumulation of heavy metals, phosphates, nitrates
and nitrites in the products, in the soil, in the underground
waters). The reduction of the earth fertility and its erosion
has come to an alarming level everywhere around the world. The
“erosion” of genetic diversity, high usage of energy sources
and many other negative occurrences for the conventional agriculture
represent unsolvable problems.
On the other side, the economic aspect should not be neglected.
Namely, the agriculture in the………region is not a profitable
activity, since its products do not have a recognizable quality
and origin and do not attract neither the domestic nor the world
market. On the other side, some natural resources, in which
the…. regions are abundant with, are inadequately and insufficiently
used (forest products, medicinal plants, etc.).
All the above mentioned problems that accompany the conventional
agriculture may be avoided and solved by establishment of
a system of cultivation based on organic principles.
The feasibility of the project “Eco zone Durmitor” lies in
a completely conserved soil which, due to a traditional way
of agricultural production, may comply with the standards
prescribed by the European Union. Such an approach shall help
for the existing problems to be overcome (dislocation of the
inhabitants, poor living conditions, difficult sale of the
most qualitative food products…)
By linking a tradition, sustainable development and a science
we shall get a winning combination.
An organic agriculture is in our interest:
- production of natural and health food, not containing harmful
elements,
- production of organic products which are having a certificate,
a recognizable quality and origin, in demand on the world
market,
- preservation and promotion of the environment by introducing
the organic agriculture as a segment of a sustainable development,
- better use of existing natural resources,
- a developed organic agriculture, not requiring huge investments,
shall significantly engage the local producers and induce
development of the accompanying economic activities and bases
for a development of the exclusive tourism; organic farms
are rather attractive for the eco tourists, suitable for organization
of voluntary working camps as well as for education of pupils
and students within the eco-camps.
- an organically oriented agriculture shall guarantee a preservation
of a clean environment (clean water sources, clean air, preserved
flora and fauna) which is of a great importance for the existing
water factory and the eco tourism;
- a food offer for tourists in the ….region shall be increased,
- an expressed deficit of these products and 20-50% higher
prices of the organic products compared to the ones of conventional
agriculture, shall guarantee a safe placing, economic profit
and highly regarded position on the world market.
